GCIMCL Financial Aid Policies
1. Since funds are limited, every attempt will be made to distribute aid as equitably as possible on the basis
of need and academic merit.
2. Financial aid given by The Fairfax Institute / (IIIT) can only be applied to tuition costs incurred at
The Fairfax Institute / (IIIT) and Hartford Seminary.
3. The aid that is given will be pro-rated over the academic year, according to the student’s credit load.
4. In order to maintain eligibility for financial aid, students must maintain better than a “B-” average and be current in
all other costs/bills associated with their studies at The Fairfax Institute / (IIIT) which are not covered by financial aid.
5. A student with exceptional circumstances regarding satisfactory performance and timely payment of bills may
petition the Financial Aid Committee for alternate consideration.
5a. The Financial Aid Committee must be confident of a guarantee of improved performance and payment of outstanding debts to the Seminary, or the student will not be eligible for future aid.
6. The deadline for financial aid applications and requests is prior to the start of the GCIMCL Certificate Program.
If funds remain in the budget after start of the program, financial aid applications submitted after this deadline
may be considered.
7. Students will be notified by email of the decision on their request for financial aid.
8. Financial aid will only be applied towards tuition for courses required for the GCIMCL program. All other courses which
the student takes in addition to the required courses are the financial responsibility of the student. TFI will only cover the
cost of up to 8 courses total which go towards completion of the certificate, including one CPE (Clinical Pastoral Education) class.
9. Housing costs are the responsibility of the student. Students may make a request to the Program Manager to see if there
is space within the budget to reimburse the student for the cost of accommodations. If given approval, TFI will be able to reimburse students up to $50 per night when the student provides adequate proof of purchase in the form of a receipt or
invoice on Hartford Seminary or Jewish Theological Seminary letterhead.
